Psoriasis. Dos And Don`ts
3 Minute Read
Psoriasis is a chronic skin condition that affects millions of people worldwide. It is characterized by the formation of red, scaly patches on the skin that can be itchy and painful. While there is no cure for psoriasis, there are ways to manage the symptoms, including the use of skincare products. However, it is essential to choose the right type of products and avoid certain ingredients that may aggravate the condition.
When it comes to soap and skincare products, it is crucial to look for products that are specifically designed for sensitive skin. Psoriasis-prone skin is often very sensitive, so it is important to avoid harsh ingredients that can further irritate the skin. Some of the ingredients to avoid include fragrances, sulfates, and alcohol. Fragrances can cause skin irritation, while sulfates and alcohol can strip the skin of its natural oils, leading to dryness and irritation.
Instead, opt for natural, organic products that are gentle on the skin. Look for products that contain ingredients like aloe vera, shea butter, and oatmeal, which are known for their soothing and moisturizing properties. These ingredients can help calm the skin and reduce inflammation, making them ideal for people with psoriasis.
Another factor to consider when choosing soap and skincare products for psoriasis is the pH level. Psoriasis-prone skin tends to have a higher pH, which means it is more alkaline. Using products that are too alkaline can disrupt the skin's natural barrier, making it more vulnerable to inflammation and infection. It is recommended to choose products with a pH level of around 5.5, which is closer to the skin's natural pH level.
When it comes to soap, it is important to choose a mild, non-drying formula. Look for soaps that are free from fragrances and sulfates, and instead contain natural ingredients like coconut oil or olive oil. These oils can help hydrate and soothe the skin, while also cleansing it gently.
Choosing the right soap and skincare products is crucial for people with psoriasis. It is essential to look for products that are gentle on the skin, free from harsh ingredients, and contain natural, soothing ingredients. By taking the time to choose the right products, people with psoriasis can manage their symptoms and enjoy healthier, more comfortable skin.

Castile soap is a favorite in my family. Oatmeal seems to work especially well for psoriasis and excema. I wish there was a way to test your skin’s PH level so you could see exactly what you would need to care for it. Great info!
One of my best friends has this issue, and has to be really careful with choosing skincare products. I love that you mention finding something around the skin’s natural pH level. I will recommend your Castile soap to her, since she prefers organic products. Thank you for this information!
Although psoriasis is not curable, but what can be done is ,that we have to make sure that we don’t use products that have chemical irritants infused. One should be using sulfate free products, especially organic products!!
Managing your psoriasis issues properly is not just good for your health but also for the betterment of people around you. So make sure you take care of it and avoid it from affecting others.
